for the Practice of Philosophy
The APEIRON SOCIETY FOR THE PRACTICE OF PHILOSOPHY (Calgary) is a non-profit Society founded in 1987 by Petra von Morstein, formerly Professor of Philosophy at the University of Calgary, who served as President until 2003. The APEIRON SOCIETY is a public forum for the exploration of philosophical ideas and methods in the context of actual life issues. Its main activities comprise bi-monthly seminars and group discussions featuring invited speakers. Annual seasons typically begin in early September and conclude in early May with a week-end symposium at Kananaskis. Participation in the activities of the APEIRON SOCIETY does not require any specialization or academic background. Members and non-members alike are welcome to attend meetings, which are held at the Scandinavian Centre, 739 - 20th Ave NW, Calgary. Speakers come from a variety of disciplines besides Philosophy, including: Art, Biomedical Ethics, Literature, Mathematics, Religious Studies, Sociology, Political Science, and Psychology. The APEIRON SOCIETY is a unique feature of the cultural life of Calgary and Alberta. Philosophy Calgary ---> The Apeiron Society |
